Associate General Counsel, S&P Global Market Intelligence
Amanda Samuel is Associate General Counsel of S&P Global Market Intelligence where she leads the Commercial Transactions team for the Americas. Ms. Samuel is also responsible for advising internal stakeholders on legal and business strategy and risk, including practices and policies, enterprise risk, information security and intellectual property. Ms. Samuel is a board member of BOLD.
Before joining S&P Global in 2014, Ms. Samuel was Intellectual Property and Contracting Counsel for the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications for the City of New York responsible for large, complex technology transactions. Prior to this role, she was Associate General Counsel for Intellectual Property at Colgate-Palmolive Company responsible for trademark, copyright and other intellectual property related matters for global brands including Colgate, Hill’s, and Tom’s of Maine. Ms. Samuel began her legal career at the global law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she focused on transactions, licensing and litigation involving intellectual property and antitrust matters.
Beyond her private sector experience, Ms. Samuel has held a range of chair and committee positions for the New York City Bar Association. She also served as the chairwoman of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS). She has served as president of the of Princeton Alumni Association of New York City, president of the Princeton Class of 1992 and was a member of Princeton University’s Alumni Council.
Ms. Samuel holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Princeton University, a juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and a master’s degree in business administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
