Chief Design Officer
Sunjiv Mainie is Managing Director and Chief Design Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). Sunjiv oversees the Design Organization, which is responsible for the efficient and effective design, build, and launch of indices across asset classes and strategies. The Design Organization includes the Global Research & Design, Index Development and Launch teams.
Sunjiv has over 25 years of experience in financial markets. He began his career as a quantitative analyst and then portfolio manager at Fleming Asset Management. He was an early practitioner in factor-based investing, designing and implementing some of the firm’s flagship equity products. In addition, he managed thematic and multi-asset portfolios. He also worked at Trafalgar Capital Management and Proxima Alfa Investment Management (the latter as a Partner), where he continued to manage and oversee factor-based equity portfolios and strategies. He joined S&P DJI in 2014 as Head of Global Research & Design in EMEA.
Sunjiv is a CFA charterholder and holds the CQF and an MBA. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BEng (Hons) in electrical and mechanical engineering.
