Building Climate Resilience: Climate Scenario Analysis Workshop for Commercial Banks in UAE

Date:
Time:
Thursday, June 12 2025
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM GST
Location:
S&P Global Dubai DIFC Office

Workshop Objective:
Climate stress testing is a regulatory requirement set by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), and this workshop is designed to support commercial banks in meeting that mandate with clarity and confidence. Using Climate Credit Analytics, we will walk through a complete stress testing workflow—from high-quality emissions and physical risk data inputs to analyzing forward-looking results at both the counterparty and portfolio level. The session will focus on practical application while aligning with CBUAE’s climate scenarios and integrating outputs into your institution’s credit risk framework.

What to Expect:

As part of their supervisory expectations, the CBUAE requires financial institutions to assess their exposure to climate-related financial risks. This session offers risk and sustainability officers a hands-on exploration of how to utilize Climate Credit Analytics for various workflows including stress testing, reporting and risk management, starting from high-quality emissions and physical risk data and ending with actionable insights at both counterparty and portfolio-levels.

Topics covered will include:

  • Understanding the importance of reliable, high-quality data as the foundation climate risk assessment
  • Aligning with Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), CBUAE’s climate scenarios and global regulatory best practices
  • Customizing Climate Credit Analytics to reflect UAE’s market conditions and key sectors
  • Viewing results at the counterparty and portfolio level
  • Understanding and analyzing outputs within your existing credit risk frameworks
  • Embedding climate scenario results into credit risk, capital adequacy, and reporting frameworks

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of how to align internal practices with regulatory expectations and how S&P Global’s sustainability data and Climate Credit Analytics tool can serve as a practical tool to drive compliance and strengthen overall risk resilience.
