Value-based strategies have been the favorite weapons in many investors’ arsenals, historically yielding large returns and consistently outperforming. Most value investors focus on the price side of the equation – i.e., buying assets that are priced below their intrinsic values. Profitability has historically worked as an investment strategy because instead of focusing on the cheapness of an asset it focuses on the productiveness of an asset - i.e., its ability to generate earnings for the investor.
